Software manufacturer Adobe released its upgrade of consumer photo and video software Tuesday, with new tools to make it easier to edit and keep track of pictures and video clips.
Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 and Premiere Elements 12 sell for $99.99 each, or $149 for both — unlike Adobe pro software, which earlier this year went through a radical sales shift. Pro programs like the fully featured Photoshop and Premiere Pro apps are no longer offered for direct sale, but instead as a monthly subscription service via Adobe's Creative Cloud program. Rates start at $9.99 monthly.
Both Elements programs are the best-selling of their class for consumers, Adobe says, without revealing sales numbers.
New features:
— For Photoshop Elements, the Content Aware tool, which has been offered in the full Photoshop for years, allows you to move contents of a photo to another position (like a person on the left, to the right). It's now in Elements. You can also add Instagram like frames and effects to photos.
— For Premiere, Adobe has thrown in 50 snippets of music, and 250 sound effects to add to soundtracks of your videos. Additionally, for the first time, Adobe has included YouTube-like instruction videos to guide newbies on editing video.
