Nothing like a good old-fashioned government shutdown to create an opportunity for some equal-opportunity political skewering. Even though workers at the Pentagon and the Federal Emergency Management Agency are coming back to work for different reasons, Federal facilities like, say, national parks, remain closed until Congress and President Obama can come to some kind of compromise, which for the moment seems unlikely.
Thankfully we have Seth Meyers and Cecily Strong from NBC’s Saturday Night Live Weekend Update to sort out who’s winning and who’s losing. One loser in particular? The Obama Administration’s new HealthCare.gov website. Apparently, someone at the Department of Health and Human Services, which at $7.1 billion happens to command the biggest IT budget of all the civilian federal agencies, forgot to call Akamai.
Here’s a clip from last night’s show. Enjoy.
